Systems Administrator wanted

We require a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our IT Team, which is responsible for providing IT support to all staff and students across the site. You will have enthusiasm for supporting and advancing the IT function within the institution and will be up to date with cutting edge IT advances. Deputising for the Senior Systems Administrator you will be working within the team to resolve software and hardware problems and set up new servers. Alongside the Senior Systems Administrator, you will administer the institution's Open Directory, Linux file servers and non specialist web servers. You will also be expected to help develop and promote a coherent IT Strategy and an onsite staff IT training programme. An important part of your role will be liaising with management, staff and students so your people skills will need to be excellent. It is the current expectation that this role will develop into a full IT Manager role. With an honours degree/postgraduate degree in computer science or equivalent, or extensive experience, you will also have experience of practical systems administration of PCs, Linux servers, and the interaction between them.
